No visit to Bali is complete without a visit to a beach club.

There are many from which to choose and to suit every age group.

Mrs Sippy in Seminyak is closest to Villa Eleni.   Can be reached via a short taxi ride.

La Brisa Beach Club is located on Echo Beach north of Canggu. 

A beautiful setting with pool and beach swimming options that can be reached via taxi or for a quicker trip consider taking a Gojek motorbike taxi.

La Brisa Organic Market is located on the same property as the beach club.

It features organic fruit and vegetables, icecreams, hand made artisan clothing and jewellery.

It is only open on Sundays from 10am.

Luna Beach Club is located in Tabanan north of Canggu.

The new kid on the block within an amazing development named Nuanu which is also worth seeing.

Many pools, yoga centre, spectacular bamboo restaurant and much more. 

Will need a driver or a taxi - about one hour away from the villa depending upon traffic.

Finns Beach Club - the original and some say the best.

Geared for the younger demographic but well worth a seat at the bar to people watch.    There is a minimum spend if you intend to use a daybed.   This is also a spectacular bamboo structure built along the lines of the Sydney Opera House in Australia.   It is on the beach in Canggu and reached by taxi or motorbike taxi.

#2 Ubud and surrounds

The suburb of Ubud located in the middle of the island is the cultural hub – many cultural sights – also very busy.   You can embark on many spiritual pursuits here – Pyramids of Chi, sound healing, yoga, meditation etc.

Tirta Empul Temple is very popular and involves bathing in the spring-fed pools to remove negative energy and seek spiritual purification.   

You must wear a sarong over your swimsuit.    Be aware there are small sacred water snakes that also swim in the pools – very safe and non venomous and greatly revered by the locals.

Tlaga Singa – located south of Ubud is a tropical river club in a 5 star hotel.    Beautiful and very unusual architecture with an infinity pool overlooking the jungle and river.

Can be reached via taxi or book our private driver.

Tegalallang or Jataluwih Rice Terraces - located south of Ubud

Truly beautiful views from the top – and if you are in a restaurant – even better – we recommend Tis Café at Tegalallang where you can eat and admire the view. Jataluwih rice terraces are world renowned and much busier.   Access via taxi or our private driver.

Jungle Swing - located at Tegalallang

Swing out into the ravine in a gorgeous gown if the mood takes you and you are feeling brave.

ATV Adventure - south of Ubud

There are many companies that provide an adventure drive through rice fields, rivers, muddy tracks, waterfalls and challenging off road terrain.

#3 Sanur - east coast of Bali

This suburb of Bali is fast becoming the place to be to avoid the traffic and people.    It has the harbour from which you leave to travel to the closest islands. 

Nusa Penida is the main island that can be seen just off the coast of Sanur and a quick boat ride.     It has spectacular sights – again with extremely dangerous climbing down to the highlight beach and back up again – not for people who are unfit.   Also a great snorkeling spot, swimming with the manta rays etc.

Nusa Lembongan is also a favourite island – located a 30-minute boat ride from Sanur harbour.    A favourite with the younger set.

If you wish to see a sunrise this is the place to be with Mt Agung in the background.

#4 Beaches - accessible from anywhere.

The strip of beach from Kuta to Canggu is huge however we do not recommend swimming.    The water is extremely dirty and very dangerous due to the massive tides.    

An early morning walk is a delight.

Can be accessed via taxi ride or motorbike taxi.

Padang Padang Beach - need a taxi or a motorbike.

This beach on the southern tip of the island is very beautiful and a good option for a day swimming.     

It is a long taxi drive in traffic so suggest a motorbike taxi to get there.

If you are a surfer then the beaches at Uluwatu will be best suited to you.

Sunset on the beach - is a favourite amongst visitors.  

Very easy to reach from the villa either by taxi or motorbike taxi.

It can get very busy but definitely worth a visit if you are keen to see a beautiful sunset.

There are many places - either on beanbags on the sand or in restaurants on the beachfront.

#5 Shopping - shopping is a must do whilst in Bali.

You have the choice of some really upmarket shopping malls as well as the traditional local markets.

A walk down Eat Street - known for the multitude of restaurants - very close to the villa (on Jl Kayu Aya) is also a multitude of fashion stores.  No bargaining in these stores.

Jenggala - is an Indonesian inspired ceramic dishware production studio and store.   Located in Jimbaran and reached via driver or taxi, the range of stunning dinner sets, platters, etc is amazing.

If you purchase, they will box up all the goods ready for transport on your journey home.

They also have an adjacent cafe worth a visit or if you fancy something more substantial, move on to The Four Seasons Resort for lunch.     Make sure to visit the resort boutique - the best on the island.

Precinct Shopping - the Kuta Beachwalk Shopping Precinct - has all the usual big names, Seminyak Square the same and The Icon in Sanur.

#6 Spa Services - so many to choose from.     Some walking distance from the villa and prices differ.    

The more upmarket operations are Sundari Spa and Spring Spa.

Macadamia Spa is at a different price point and 400m from the villa.    It has been recommended by a previous guest.

Nails - only one place to go - Think Pink.   The best on the island in our opinion.   Specialises in manicures and pedicures and only a 5 minute motorbike ride from the villa.

#7 Bars and Dance Clubs - Bali is renowned for it's beautiful bars and clubs and there are so many.

We have noted only two which are in close proximity to the villa - a very short taxi ride.

Iron Fairies is a renowned dance club and music venue.   International hip hop acts, vibrant music, sensational cocktails and the most magical decor in Bali that will transport you to another world.  Located in Jl Petitenget.

La Favela is one of Bali's most iconic nightlife spots.    It has a huge following and is one of the oldest and successful venues in Bali featuring music from international artists, Latin American menu and dance venue.   Located in the heart of eat street.

Precision cutting, colouring and styling.

Price point reflects the service you require and can be booked online.

The Headmost - haircuts for men and boys - cult following for the best barbershop in Bali.

A short walk up the main drag to the right or a short bike/taxi rider.    Around $10 per cut.

#8 Snorkeling - Bali is renowned for it's world class snorkeling spots.       

Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai on the east coast of Bali is a fantastic spot for beginners with calm crystal clear waters.

This tour typically takes around 7 hours with transport villa to villa, lunch included.     There are many providers for this tour.

Amed on the east coast of Bali is a beautiful location and provides snorkeling on a Japanese shipwreck, as well as magnificent coral gardens.

This tour typically takes around 10 hours with transport to the area, boat trip, guide and lunch included.    Not recommended for beginners.

Please thoroughly research the providers of the snorkeling tours - there have been many accidents, especially in the Nusa Penida area.
